The Soul Society

The Soul Society is the realm of the afterlife in the world of Bleach and Bleach: Lost Souls. It is home of the Soul Reapers, and souls that have passed on from the Living World either naturally, or through Konso or being slayed as a Hollow. It is divided into two major parts. The largest by far is the Rukongai. The Rukongai is home to most of the residents of the Soul Society, and it surrounds the Sereitei. The Sereitei is like the capital of the Soul Society, and home of the Gotei 4.

Rukongai

The Rukongai is the home of the average soul who has passed to the Soul Society. People can be born as souls in the Soul Society between two individuals, or pass on from the Living World with the Soul Society as the afterlife. The Rukongai is divided into 75 districts, and it is typically agreed upon that the higher the district number the lower the standard of living. Souls in the Rukongai, especially those in the poorer districts, rarely reunite with their families. Instead, they form makeshift families after death and they take care of each other. Souls that pass on from the Living World soon reappear in the Soul Society as essentially the same age as before they left.

The more wealthy districts of the Rukongai function as relatively high-class residential districts and with merchant districts and the whole nine. These people generally rarely struggle for the necessities of life, and live without complaint outside of their social issues, as politics run deep there. This is generally agreed to be districts 1-25. The poorest districts, 50-75, struggle for much. There is much homelessness, abuse, gang violence, and very little law enforcement. Soul Reaper presence is a rarity, and these people are generally left to fend for themselves.

Sereitei

Sereitei is the city within the city, so to speak. It is the home of noble families and the Gotei 4, as well as Central 46, the governing body of the Soul Society. Though it typically appears to be unseparated from the Rukongai, if someone were to attempt to intrude, a dome-shaped forcefield over the whole city would block their entrance. Additionally, a wall around the area can seemingly fall from nowhere, putting the entirety of the Sereitei on red-alert.

Gotei 4

The Gotei 4 are the remnants of the Gotei 13 from before the collapse. When the majority of the Soul Society's forces were annihilated by the collapse, they realized it would be impossible to completely fill 13 entire divisions, and instead opted to condense their forces into 4. This is the organization of which all lawful Soul Reapers and Vizards are a part.

Squad 1

This is the combat division and current command division of the Gotei 4. The members of this division tend to use physical-based attacks and shun the use of Kido. As of now, the Commander of Squad 1 as well as the Captain Commander is an NPC named [TBD] found at the following link:

Squad 2

This is the assassination, mobility, and stealth corps of the Gotei 4. Originally, when the organization was the Gotei 13, the Stealth and Mobility Corps was not formally a part of the Gotei. However, since the collapse and the need to condense their forces, the Gotei 4 has absorbed this unit. Their Captain is an NPC named [TBD] found at the following link:

Squad 3

This is the Kido Corps of the Gotei 4. Similarly to the Stealth and Mobility Corps, they were originally their own separate entity. However, since the collapse, the Kido Corps and the medics of the Gotei 4 have combined into Squad 3. Their Captain is an NPC named [TBD] found at the following link:

Squad 4

Squad 4 is the most general of the Gotei 4. Anyone who does not fit neatly into the other categories would be a part of Squad 4. Additionally, they have a separate division under their command called the Research and Development Department. While the members of this department are all a part of Squad 4, Squad 4 members are not required to be a part of this department. Their Captain is an NPC named [TBD] found at the following link:
